Green Monster Smoothie

Green smoothies have been attributed to weight loss, healthier skin and nails and shinier hair. What gal wouldn't want to get in on some of that action?? Why?? The high nutrient content of a green smoothie naturally detours your bodies common cravings for junk food and leaves you feeling fuller throughout the day. The blending of the greens and fruit allows your body to easily absorb the valuable goodness inside - vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll  and fiber.  According to the teachings of Dr. Ann Wigmore, “consuming chlorophyll is like receiving a healthy blood transfusion”. Green smoothies are also full of antioxidants which strengthen your immune system making you a little more super mom than you already are.Giddy up.

What You'll Need

  • 1 frozen banana (tip- heat for 20 seconds in microwave to make cutting easier)
  • 1/2 cup 0% vanilla greek yogurt (or try our fave vegan option - So Delicious coconut yogurt)
  • 1 cup vanilla almond milk
  • 1 tbsp. all natural peanut butter
  • 4-5 cups baby spinach

Directions

1. Add all ingredients to blender. Blend on high until smooth and delicious!! Pour into a tall glass - enjoy!!

Just in case you're thinking this would taste terrible, like something Popeye would whip up after a bender, stop right there. What do they taste like you wonder?? Like peanut butter and banana!! Trust me - whip one up for yourself.

Light up, light up

We are in looove with these vintage inspired light art pieces that are guaranteed to add a little whimsy and retro flare to your space or next celebration.

YOLO (you only live once) neon sign, spotted by contributors at  houzz, was custom created by designer Emily Mughannam for a tween girls room. Personally I would have nothing against hanging this in my own bedroom.

We have a not-so minor infatuation with this handmade, distressed, light-up marquee ampersand. Artisan Tom Toupin hand creates each marquee in his collection from start to finish with special attention to detail. Just beautiful.

Martha Stewart shares how a neon initial can add a touch of fun and class to your next big event....and double as keepsake art.

DIY Scrabble Tile Art

I've been whipping these up for all kinds of occasions lately. It all started with my brothers wedding back in May when I wanted to create a beautiful handmade gift but was on an uncomfortably tight budget. If you're lucky enough to come across an old game of scrabble at a local thrift store or collecting dust in a friends basement this entire project will cost only a few dollars. I recently put another one together for my master bedroom in time for our recent anniversary. Hubby loved it.

After you've tracked down an old game of scrabble round up the letters you'll need and play around with combinations. Find a frame big enough to display your words of choice, we found ours for $1 at our local dollar store. We kept it clean by inserting a plain sheet of white paper inside the frame but you can add in some patterned paper to spice things up a bit. Once you have your tiles laid out the way you would like use hot glue to attach them directly to the glass. The hot glue comes off super easy if you make a mistake and need to do any adjustments. We flipped over one of the tiles and added on a sparrow cabochon just for fun.

We have another special project in mind for our old scrabble board...but we'll need to collect a few more first.

We've linked up this post to the All Things Pretty Linky Party!! Come on by and check out the beautiful creations other talented bloggers are sharing.

Stuff We Love: Board Books for Modern Babies

HTML for Babies by John C. Vanden-Heuvel Sr. It's never too early to be standards compliant! The first in a three-volume set, originally designed by a NYC Web Designer for his baby, this beautiful book is a fun and colorful introduction to the world of web design for babies.

Foodie Babies Wear Bibs by Michelle Sinclair Colman.  Join the urban babies as they celebrate the pleasures of cuisine. Foodie babies favor finger foods and small plates, and spend their days browsing the farmers' market--all in their inimitable style.

Goodnight iPad by Ann Droyd. This hilarious parody not only pokes loving fun at the bygone quiet of the original classic, but also at our modern plugged-in lives. It will make you laugh, and it will also help you put yourself and your machines to sleep.

Crafting Olympic Torches

We celebrated the opening ceremonies of the 2012 Olympic Games today by creating these torches from rolled bristol board and construction paper. We cut off the access bristol board and sealed our seams with white duct tape. Our flames were attached with a glue stick. Our littles are having a ball today taking part in their very own torch relay. Are you watching the opening ceremony at home today with your family??
