Black Forest Cupcakes

Are you ready for this?? I mean seriously..if you're not sitting down, please do so now. I am about to share with you...THE BEST cupcake recipe I have EVER..EVER tried. If you are like me and lack self control when it comes to the sweet stuff I recommend you just turn away right now. A batch of these babies lasted less than 12 hours in my house..you have been forewarned.

Still with me? Let's get baking.

INGREDIENTS -
Your favorite chocolate cake batter recipe OR you can use my personal favorite found here.
1 can of cherry pie filling
Fresh whipped cream
Chocolate shavings and/or maraschino cherries for garnish

DIRECTIONS-
1. Preheat oven to 350, line muffin tin with paper cupcake liners and prepare cake batter as directed in your favorite recipe. Pour batter about two thirds the way up into prepared cupcake liners. Bake 25 mins at 350 or until a knife inserted into the center of the cupcake comes out clean. Allow cupcakes to cool before removing from pan.

2. Using a paring knife carve and remove a portion from the top of each cupcake (think similar to cutting a jack-o-lantern at Halloween). Fill the hole with cherry pie filling and replace the top, removing any excess cake that won't fit into the filled cupcake.

3. Top each cupcake with fresh whipped cream. For a finishing touch add grated chocolate shavings and a maraschino cherry. Refrigerate any cupcakes that you do not do devour upon completion.

ENJOY!!
