Rainbows in a Jar

These rainbows in a jar are not only fun for little people to make and pretty to look at but they also double as a simple gift younger children can make for their loved ones this holiday season. We colored and layered epsom salts so your child can either enjoy this pretty keepsake or empty the contents of the jar into a bath for a relaxing soak.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED -
Epsom Salt
Food Coloring
A small jar (we used a jumbo baby food jar)
Some bowls and spoons for mixing

HOW-TO -
1. Have your child mix food coloring with epsom salts until desired shade is achieved. We ended up mixing 4 color batches..you could mix more or less depending on the desired effect.
2. Layer colored epsom salts in the jar using a spoon or a funnel..whichever your child prefers. There WILL be a mess, be prepared, it's all part of the fun.
3. Secure lid tightly to full jar. If you have some extra time on your hands you can even add a decorative flourish to the top of the lid like we did here.
