Cardboard Guitar
What You'll Need
- A sturdy piece of cardboard (we dissembled ours from a tv box)
- A pencil
- A black sharpie
- A strong exacto knife
- A small round plastic container
- 3 rubberbands
- Scissors
- Scotch Tape
- Painters Tape
- Paints and paintbrushes
- Stickers
1. Draw out your design with a pencil on the cardboard. Go over the design, once completely satisfied, with the sharpie. Be sure to include a hole fit specifically for the round plastic container.2. Carefully cut out the shape using an exacto knife. Cutting away excess cardboard first and then cutting away pieces in sections makes this job much easier. Lastly cut out the hole where your plastic container will fit.3. Place the plastic container snugly into the hole. Secure on the back of the guitar with several layers of scotch tape. We ended up using 6 pieces.4. Poke 3 holes on top of the plastic container and 3 holes underneath using either a pencil or the tip of the exacto knife. These holes will be used to string your guitar.
5. Cut the 3 rubber bands in half. Poke the rubber bands through the holes from top to bottom securing on the back of the guitar with a large knot.6. Once ready to paint, painters tape can be used to ensure your design is kept in tact while being painted by little hands. If you are worried about the painters tape ripping the cardboard stick the tape to your shirt first before applying so it will be less sticky. Or you can try using markers instead.7. Once the paint is dry apply stickers wherever you please. For extra durability a coating of glossy modpodge can be applied.
ROCK ON!!!
