Light up, light up

We are in looove with these vintage inspired light art pieces that are guaranteed to add a little whimsy and retro flare to your space or next celebration.

YOLO (you only live once) neon sign, spotted by contributors at  houzz, was custom created by designer Emily Mughannam for a tween girls room. Personally I would have nothing against hanging this in my own bedroom.

We have a not-so minor infatuation with this handmade, distressed, light-up marquee ampersand. Artisan Tom Toupin hand creates each marquee in his collection from start to finish with special attention to detail. Just beautiful.

Martha Stewart shares how a neon initial can add a touch of fun and class to your next big event....and double as keepsake art.

Make Me a Draaaank (Martini Round-up)

At the end of a long week (especially after a bad hair cut - see Monday's post) I love to kick back and sip on a well deserved drink. There's something about sipping on a martini that makes a gal feel fabulous - or maybe I've just watched too many episodes of sex and the city. So what's better than a martini you might ask?? A martini that tastes like you're favorite dessert - that's what!! You're welcome!!

Spotted: Pumpkin Cheesecaketini

I'm seriously hoping someone reading this is feeling generous enough to drink one of these on my behalf. I suppose being pregnant I could make this cocktail virgin style but we all know that would simply not be the same. After hauling your kiddos around door to door tomorrow night, teeth chattering and fingers numb I think it goes without saying that every Mom deserves to sit back, drink one of these bad boys and enjoy a few candy bars. Do it for me. Check out Tasty Kitchen to get the low down on how to whip up your very own Pumpkin Cheesecaketini. Cheers!!

Throw a Back-to-School Style Party

It goes without saying that back to school is a time of celebration for a lot of families but can also be a time for tears as little ones head off to school for the very first time. Why not add some excitement to the arrival of a new school year and the challenges ahead by throwing your favorite students and students-to-be a back to school themed party. After all - a new school year is the start of something monumental - new skills will be learned, friends will be made, experiences will be gained and fun will be had!! If that's not a reason to throw a good party I don't know what is!!

1. Back to School Bash featured on Bird's Party. We LOVE the edible pencil crayons, old skool milk jars and use of chalkboard paint.

2. School Days Faux Dessert Table featured on Amy Atlas. The pencil rubberband "cake" is too much fun!!

3. TomKat Studio created a whimsical back-school tablescape at Pottery Barn that featured everything apples. Be sure to click over for a free printable teacher card.

Pretty Packages (via Pinterest)

I'm a sucker for a pretty wrapped parcel but let's be honest...who wouldn't want to open a gift decked out in her very best like one of these?? Make someone feel extra special by putting a little personality into the exterior of the goodness wrapped inside a present. My guess is you'll start getting all kinds of party invites if you're known for bringing along gifts as gorgeous as these. All images via Pinterest.
