A quick tip if you do not have any buttermilk on hand you can make your own by adding 1 tbsp of lemon juice to a measuring cup and then adding enough milk to bring the liquid up to 1 cup. Let sit for 5 minutes and then use as much as your recipe calls for, in this case it's just enough.
